Biking Kyrgyzstan: Tour 04

Day 1: Your first destination will be from Barskoon village to the Arabel Pass (3800 m) that means you will cover 55 km and take you 2 hours by car. After lunch you will have a horseback riding tour through the Arabel Pass (3800m) up the Jashyl-Kol mountain lake and then across the Suyek Pass (4028 m). Lunch break.  Distance: 15-20 km.
Time: 3 hours. Dinner. Camping.
Day 2: After the breakfast we will begin our biking tour from end to end the Suyek and Taragai Rivers and through the Kyzyl-Eshme valley. In the afternoon you will come to the Bel Pass (3714 m). Here you will enjoy biking through beautiful high mountainous valleys and pastures. Break for lunch. Distance: 25-35 km. Time: 4-5 hours.
Day 3: After a delicious breakfast we start our biking tour from Bel Pass to Kara-Sai River and a mountain lake where shepherds once took their cattle. Now these pastures are empty because of the present economic crisis. Dinner. Camping.
Day 4: Having finished with our breakfast we start our biking tour in Kyrtash-Yshtyk Valley with the possibility of sighting Marco Polo sheep. Distance makes up 35-40 km. Time: 5-6 hours. Dinner. Camping.
Day 5: After the breakfast we will begin our biking tour down Ak-Shyyrak Canyon where you will come to a shepherd's yurt and have tea with them. Lunch is organized on the way. Through your guide you can talk to them about the mode of life of a shepherd. Distance: 35-40 km. Time: 5-6 hours. Dinner. Camping.
Day 6: Having finished with our breakfast we start our biking from Kurtash to Kara-Sai River with open fields to gallop and occasional roads to walk. The weather will vary from scorching sun to snow and hail. Distance: 35-40 km. Time: 5-6 hours. Dinner. Camping.
Day 7: Having finished with our breakfast we start our biking from Kara-Sai River to the Akbel Pass (3833 m), then to the Taragai River. Distance: 30-40 km. It will take you 5-6 hours. Lunch is organized on the way. Here you have again an opportunity to see mountain goat and Marco Polo sheep. Dinner. Camping.
Day 8: After the breakfast we will begin our biking down to Taragai River and Maitor Valley to Chokuluu Kol. On the way you will meet horse shepherds and taste Kymyz (mares' milk). From Juuku Pass (3633 m) down to the Juuku Valley. Distance: 35-40 km.
Time: 5-6 hours. O/n in tents. This pass is unique with its horse trails used by shepherds to bring their cattle to summer pastures. Break for lunch. On the way you will see two mountain lakes called Jashyl-Kol (meaning "green lake" and colored green by the glacial melt). Dinner. Camping.
Day 9: After the breakfast we will begin our biking from Juuku Valley all the way up Dunguromo Pass (3773m), then down to Sary-Moinok. The trails run through the wild mountain river and you will cross it many times at safe fords. The steep slopes are covered with thickets of blackberry, juniper bushes and fir trees. Dinner. Camping.
Distance: 30-40 km. Time: 5-6 hours.
Day 10: Having finished with our breakfast we start our biking tour in Sary-Moinok and Keregetash region. Along the way you will see shepherds and drink the national drink - Kymyz. According to thelegend anyone who tries Kumis is fortuned to come back to Kyrgyzstan. Lunch is organized on the way. The wildness of the mountains will excite you every day during this horse riding trek. Dinner.
Day 11: After the breakfast we will begin our biking from Zoo Otok-Jantyk to Chunkur-Kol, a beautiful mountain lake whose name means Deep Lake. Lunch break. At night the stars shimmer on it as if the sky were touching the earth. Overnight is organized in tents.
Day 12: After a delicious breakfast we start our biking tour to Chunkur-Kol and over Tosor Pass (3893 m). Two to three hours of horse riding will bring you to a yak shepherd's yurt where you can watch them herd the hardy, woolly cattle. Dinner. Camping.
Day 13: After the breakfast we will begin our biking up to Tash Kechuu. On the way you will meet shepherds and listen to their stories about the Kyrgyz and their beloved Ala-Too mountains. Lunch is organized on the way. Camping.
Day 14: The final biking tour will be organized in Tash gorge to Kok Dobo (green hill) Valley. Revel in the beautiful mountain scenery with glaciers on the right and Issyk-Kul Lake on the left. In the evening, we will head to Barskoon by car. You will have a chance to have a bath in local thermal waters and enjoy the meal, after which you will go sleep.
